To play it safe, do not swim in Fountain Lake Wednesday and Thursday.

The Albert Lea Parks & Recreation Department will treat Fountain Lake with copper sulfate for the control of algae &8212; which gives the water its green hue. Chemically treating the water will restore its blue color.

The public should not use the lake for swimming for a period of 24 hours. Permitted activities may resume at noon Thursday, the city says. People with questions can contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 377-4377.
