The funeral service for Mabel Genora Carlson will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home. She was 90 years old.

Mabel was born in Bricelyn on March 15, 1917, the daughter of Erick and Marie (Olson) Erickson.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Bricelyn Lutheran Church.

On May 21, 1934, Mabel was united in marriage with Byron Carlson in Northwood, Iowa. They made their home in Albert Lea where they were members of First Lutheran Church.

Mabel worked for many years at Skinner/Herberger&8217;s Department Store. She had been a member of ALANON. Her interests included: playing cards and Yatzee, dancing, baking, yard work, and looking at the beauty of nature in the outdoors.

Mabel is survived by five children: ElRoy (Maureen) Carlson of Albert Lea, Joann Christenson of Upland, Calif., Sandra DeRaad of Albert Lea, Mary (Gene) Matthes of Albert Lea, Steven Carlson of Albert Lea;

nine grandchildren: Wade (Nancy) Carlson of Albert Lea, Mark (Pam) Carlson of Albert Lea, Julie Christenson of Upland, Calif., Paula (Steve) Larson of Upland, Calif., Tiffany (Ron) Hammann of Owatonna, Trevor (Lisa) DeRaad of Albert Lea, Geri Studier of Newport, Chad Monson of East Grand Forks, Jeff (Mollie) Monson of Albert Lea; 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron in 1993; one sister, Stella Sorenson; one brother, Alvin Erickson; son-in-law, Ron Christenson.
