Erma Pollei, 86, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Erma F. Pollei of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the First Lutheran Church Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Nisswa.

Erma died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at the Thornecrest Retirement Center in Albert Lea. She was 86 years of age.

Erma was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Henry and Josie (Jacobson) Berhow.

She moved to Albert Lea and attended public school. She was united in marriage to Ellsworth Hildreth in 1938 and later divorced. She married Howard Pollei in 1956 where together they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and operated a Bowling Retail Business for many years.

They retired and moved to Brainerd. After Howard’s death, Erma moved back to Albert Lea.

Erma was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where she became a member and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her activities included bowling, crocheting and sewing.

Erma is survived by her sister Wilma Wangen of Albert Lea, and brother Milford (Helen) Berhow of Rochester, sister-in-law Patricia Berhow of Lancaster, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard in 1976, daughter Barbara Axland and her husband LeRoy, two grandchildren, three sisters and four brothers.
