Speedy white kitten may be adopted

Someone wants to adopt the little white kitten that rode underneath the hood of a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville on Aug. 10 at speeds in excess of 80 mph.
The Albert Lea Police Department has received dozens of calls from people interested in the kitten but so far no one has adopted it. The Albert Lea Animal Shelter charges a $100 adoption fee and people find that too steep.
Under the regular animal schedule, the kitten was scheduled to be euthanized Friday. Instead, officers decided to hold off in hopes that a home could be found.
The cat was quietly underneath the hood of a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, family&8217;s car that morning when they stayed overnight in Albert Lea. The family&8217;s mother drove the car on the freeways from a hotel to a grocery store. When she returned, she heard meows and found the car under the hood.
A friend of the Cedar Rapids family wants to adopt the kitten and on Friday the family contacted the police and the animal shelter.
