Wells to be filled with fun

Half Moon Park in Wells will be filled with fun activities for everyone to enjoy during Wells Kernel Days this weekend.

Be ready for a long race as it&8217;s the last tractor across the line to win in the slowest tractor race on Friday. This is the second year they have done this race.

&8220;Not many people have seen that before,&8221; said Executive Director of the Wells Chamber of Commerce Andrea Neubauer.

There will be a special tribute to the troops in Iraq before the fireworks on Friday night.

Humorist Al Batt will speak on Saturday at the Bevcomm Stage. Following Batt will be the spotlight dancers and a talent show.

Also on Saturday night will be a teen dance. According to Neubauer there were over 100 teens in attendance at the teen dance last year. For the adults there will be a firemen&8217;s street dance on Main Street.

&8220;They are good family things,&8221; Neubauer said said of the events at Kernel Days.

Thursday

– 7 p.m. The Little Miss Kernel Pageant will be held in the USC Auditorium.

Friday

– 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Kernel Days Kick Off Party will be at Wells Federal Bank. There will be a free lunch.

– 5 p.m. There will be carnival rides, games, food stands, Jaycees beer garden and Lions bingo at Half Moon Park.

– 5 p.m. Home and farm products exhibit will be held at the bus garage, across the street from the park.

– 6:30 p.m. Kiddie parade at Bevcomm Stage.

– 6:30 p.m. The volleyball tournament will be held at Half Moon Park.

– 7 p.m. Slowest tractor race will be held at Half Moon Park.

– 7:30 p.m. Tractor barrel race at Half Moon Park.

– 8 p.m. – midnight Free music by S&S Power with Pat Thom as the DJ at the Bevcomm Stage.

– 9:30 p.m. Tribute to the troops in Iraq at the Bevcomm Stage.

– 9:50 p.m. Fireworks display at Half Moon Park.

Saturday

– 8 a.m. United Moethodist Youth Group Breakfast at Half Moon Park.

– 8 a.m. Farmers Market at Wells Marketplace.

– 8 a.m. Maple Valley Classic Car Show on Main St.

– 8 a.m. Crazy Daze on Main St.

– 8 a.m. Softball tournament will be held at Half Moon Park.

– 9 a.m. Volleyball tournament at Half Moon Park.

– 10 a.m. Kid Power Pedal Pull at the south end of Half Moon Park.

– 10 a.m. There will be food stands, Lion&8217;s Bingo and the Jaycee&8217;s beer garden at Half Moon Park.

– 10 a.m. Home and food products exhibits at the bus garage across the street from the park.

– 11 a.m. Joah&8217;s Ark Petting Zoo will be held at Half Moon Park.

– 11 a.m. Bocce Ball Tournament at Half Moon Park.

– Noon Carnival rides and games at Half Moon Park.

– 1 p.m. Cribbage Tournament at Wells American Legion.

– 4:30 p.m. The classic car show will be cruising around town.

– 4:30 p.m. Humorist Al Batt will speak at Bevcomm Stage.

– 5:30 p.m. Spotlight dancers will be performing at the Bevcomm Stage.

– 6:30 p.m. There will be a talent show held at the Bevcomm Stage.

– 8 p.m. – midnight Teen dance at the Bevcomm Stage.

– 8:30 p.m. Firemen&8217;s street dance on Main St.

Sunday

– 8 a.m. United Methodist Youth Group Breakfast at Half Moon Park.

– 8 a.m. Softball tournament at Half Moon Park.

– 9 a.m. Volleyball tournament at Half Moon Park.

– 10 a.m. Food stands, Lion&8217;s bingo and Jaycee&8217;s beer garden at Half Moon Park.

– 10 a.m. Community church service at the Bevcomm Stage.

– Noon The Giant Parade will begin at Main St.

– After the parade there will be carnival rides, games, live performances and Joah&8217;s Ark Petting Zoo at Half Moon Park, home and farm products exhibits at the bus garage, &8220;Hello Skates&8221; skateboarding performance at the skate park and draft horse plowing at the field east of Dairy Queen.
