Barbara Jean Herget, 58, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at her home.
She was born May 1, 1949, in Waseca, the daughter of James and Margie (Billings) Weckwerth. Barb graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1966. She attended Austin vo-tech for two years.
On Feb. 14, 1970, she married Gerald Herget. The couple farmed together in Meriden Township.
She worked as a beautician from the time she completed vo-tech school until 2006. Barb worked for The Stylemore, The Blue Fountain and La Petit before operating her own beauty shop, Rose Street Hair Salon. She later worked at Barber’s Exceptionale.
Barb enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and her cats.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Herget of Owatonna; son, Matt Herget of Owatonna; mother, Margie Weckwerth of Albert Lea; brothers, Eugene (and Sharon) Weckwerth of Albert Lea, Richard (and Linda) Weckwerth of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Weckwerth, and her son, Rodney Herget.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Meriden.
Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
