Dean Hermanson, 73, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Dean T. Hermanson, 73, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at the Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Dean T. Hermanson, son of Thorvin and Rose (Siedsehlag) Hermanson, was born on May 31, 1934, in Forest City, Iowa. Dean received his education in Albert Lea, graduating from high school in 1953. On Nov. 4, 1954, he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharge on Sept. 20, 1961, from the Air Force Reserve.

Dean was united in marriage with Martha Werner on Feb. 4, 1957. Dean graduated with honors with a bachelor of arts degree from Mankato State in 1960. In 1968, they moved to Sioux

Falls. Dean owned and operated the Crow Bar since 1976, has operated Hermanson Properties Inc. since 1985, and was a partner in RJ Ries Valet Dry Cleaners from 1988 to the present. Martha preceded Dean in death on March 4, 1986.

Dean was a member of First

Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 15, the Elks Club and Past Archers Club. In addition to big game hunting he also enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, bird watching and traveling abroad.

Dean was united in marriage with Helen Burgraff on May 17, 2003.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Helen of Sioux Falls; children, Barbara (George) Beam of Eagan, Brian (Mary) Hermanson of Sioux Falls, S.D. Barry (Terri) Hermanson of Chancellor, S.D., Brenda (Randy) Slapnicka of Payson, Ariz., and Belinde (Jim) Cordell of Sioux Falls, S.D.; step children, Daniel (Ingrid) Sougstad of Mahtomedi and Ryan Sougstad of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren, Jeremiah Reppe, Angela Reppe, Amy Bates, Matthew Reppe, Kelli Hermanson, Matthew Hermanson, Travis Hermanson, Brianna Chase, Austin Slapnicka, Jessica Slapnicka, Taylor Cordell, Annika Sougstad and Evin Sougstad; two great-grandchildren, Ray and Tristen; sisters, Delrose (Dale) Rosenberg of Mason City, Iowa, Eldeen &8220;Dixie&8221; Michaelis of Albert Lea, Marilee Citsay of Albert Lea; brother, Dennis Hermanson of Marietta, Ga.; and a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and Martha, a brother-in-law, Gordy Michaelis, preceded Dean in death.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation for the public begins at 3 p.m. Sunday. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. with a service of the Word at 7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main.
