Darrell Scott, father of Columbine High School shooting victim Rachel Scott, visited the school in Alden on Tuesday and made a point everyone needs to remember: Don&8217;t judge others so quickly.

He said Rachel, who was the first victim at the shooting on April 20, 1999, sought the best in other people.

So should everyone.

Before you judge someone negatively, try judging them positively. Look for the good. Give the benefit of the doubt.

In fact, Darrel asked the students to give someone three chances before judging. It&8217;s a good lesson for all of us.

The students and teachers were moved by his speech, some to tears.

He encouraged people to write down their dreams, then form goals. One point of the presentation was to help the teenagers recognize they have purpose in life.

The students signed a large wall poster accepting Rachel&8217;s Challenge.

We hope that in your own way, so do you.
