Fire cant keep Freeborn Lumber down

FREEBORN &8212; Demolition will begin this week to clear out the entire east side of Freeborn Lumber Co. that burned to the ground last week.

On Wednesday, Freeborn Lumber employees were busy loading shingles onto a truck to take to a salvage company. Then, after all the tasks such as this are completed, demolition will begin, the workers said.

Earlier this week, lightning was declared as the official cause of the fire, which destroyed all of the offices at the company, along with the original part of the lumberyard, including three storage sheds. Five vehicles were also destroyed.

The company is up and running with an office set up in the old fire hall.
