Henry Verdoorn, 97, Hollandale

Henry Raymond Verdoorn, 97 of Hollandale, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Memorial services for Henry will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hollandale Reformed Church. Pastor Ron Sikkema will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
Henry Raymond Verdoorn was born on Nov. 26, 1909, to Arie and Agnes (VanZanten) Verdoorn in Boyden, Iowa. He attended school in Hollandale and Albert Lea. Henry married Eva Dena DeVries on September 12, 1930 in Hollandale and celebrated 73 years of marriage. Henry was retired from FMC in 1974. Henry enjoyed fishing with his sons, traveling, visiting with his family and friends, and took great pride in working in his yard.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald J. and wife Barbara of San Antonio, Texas; H. James and wife Lois of Albert Lea, Phillip R. and wife Mavis of Springboro, Ohio; and Daniel D. and wife Linda of State College, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Verdoorn of Albert Lea; brother Emery and wife Betty of Delavan; sister, Cornelia Miller of Findley, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva; son, A. Eugene; daughter, Myrna Jane; grandsons, Brad and Douglas; brothers Arie, Cornelius, William, Marion and Richard.
Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice in Albert Lea.
