GRAND MEADOW &8212; Leading 8-6 with two minutes remaining, the Alden-Conger football team gave Grand Meadow excellent field position because of a poor snap on a punt. With the ball on the 20-yard line, the Superlarks drove for the winning score, 12-10, with just 31 seconds remaining.

&8220;The whole game was about field position,&8221; A-C head coach Chad Mattson said. &8220;We never had it and we kept giving it to them.&8221;

Grand Meadow scored its first touchdown on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. A-C was unable to answer in large part due to six turnovers in the game.

&8220;We hadn&8217;t turned the ball over coming into this game and then we do it six times,&8221; Mattson said. &8220;It was just one of those nights.&8221;

The Knights would not get on the board until the fourth quarter despite their own defense forcing four turnovers.

Matt Bremseth ran the ball in from five yards out after intercepting the ball to give A-C the possession. Mitchell Kleinschrodt added the two-point conversion.

Kleinschrodt had 107 yards on 21 carries and E.J. Knight added 38 more yards. Bremseth had 13 tackles, the interception and a fumble recovery.

A-C would get a safety in the final 31 seconds of the game but that is as close as they would get.

&8220;The turnovers kept us from getting anything going in the first half, and they came at bad times in the second,&8221; Mattson said. &8220;This is not a game where Grand Meadow beat the Knights. The Knights beat the Knights tonight.&8221;

A-C is now 1-3 on the season.
