MADELIA &8212; The Glenville-Emmons football team jumped on Madelia early, but penalties and turnovers kept the Wolverines from picking up their first win of the season.

Nick Stadheim scored on a 37-yard run in the first quarter to put G-E up 8-0, but that is all the offense the Wolverines would get falling 20-8 Friday night.

G-E was driving for another score in the first when the Wolverines fumbled the ball inside Madelia&8217;s 20-yard line. It was scooped up by Madelia and returned for a TD.

G-E committed four turnovers in the game and the penalties helped negate a strong first half in which the team rushed for 167 yards. Stadheim and Logan Hansen led the Wolverines on the ground.

Madelia threw a lot in the first half, but when it took a touchdown lead into the locker room the ground game was put into full effect in the second half. Madelia&8217;s final score came in the fourth quarter.

G-E (0-4) will look to bounce back with its first win of the season Friday when it hosts LeRoy-Ostrander for homecoming.
