Wesley Pulley, 91

Wesley J. Pulley, 91, passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hope United Methodist Church in Pocahontas. Visitation will be today at Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wesley was born March 1, 1916, to Henry and Etta Pulley in Palmer. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1933. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, he attended Iowa
State University. He helped his father run Pulley Hardware in Palmer. Wes became president of Palmer State Bank in 1963 and worked there until his retirement in 1985.
He was united in marriage to Betty J. Nicholas on June 21, 1959. They were married for 24 years before her death in 1983. They raised two children, Steven and Beth Ann.
Wes married Shirley Anderson on May 11, 1985. They lived in Palmer until 1996 when they moved to Manson. Due to declining health, they moved to Kenyon Place in Fort Dodge in January 2006.
Wes was avid trap shooter and a lifetime member of the American Trap Shooters Association. He attended over 60 Iowa State Trapshoots and received special recognition by the Iowa State Trapshooters Association. He was a member of American Legion, Amvets, Lions Club and American Bankers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and her three children; his children, Steve (Barb) Pulley of Albert Lea and Beth (Keith) Petti of St Louis, Mo. his grandchildren, Megan, Jack and Joe Pulley and Clayton and Camryn Petti. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brother Harry, and sister Hazel.
Memorials may be made to the Hope United Methodist Church in Pocahontas or the Alzheimer’s Assocation.
