Carolyn Head, 80, Edina

Carolyn Rose (Mathews) Head of Edina, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Fairview Southdale Hospital on Oct. 26, 2007. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Monday at 11 a.m., visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn was born on April 5, 1927, in Albert Lea to John W. (Jack) and Alma (Throne) Mathews. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in1945.
She worked for the United States Postal Data Center for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1993. She held several other positions with the Federal Reserve Bank, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Associated Press, Pillsbury Co., U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Federal Courts, Air Force in Denver, Colo., and Lea College in Albert Lea.
Carolyn was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and spent many hours volunteering at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She was a devoted aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Survivors include: John (Paula) Mathews of Faribault; Sena (Carl) Mitch of Homewood, Ill.; Ron (Betty) Mathews of Albert Lea; Karen (Mark) Stuart of Larchmont, N.Y.; brother-in-law Charles Enge of Downer&8217;s Grove, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents John W.(Jack) and Alma Mathews, brother Richard Mathews and sister Suzanne Enge.
