Memorial services for Jean Olson, 81, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Jean died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at her home.

Jean Olson was born on Nov. 9, 1925, to Ross and Veronica (Kennedy) Shafenberg in Casper, Wyo. She grew up in Wyoming and attended Natrona County High School. After graduating she attended the University of Nebraska where she met Willard &8220;Bill&8221; Olson. They were married on March 30, 1948, in Casper, Wyo. They lived in Minneapolis and came to Albert Lea in 1965. Jean was a member of the AAUW, Albert Lea Country Club, and enjoyed volunteering for various oganizations in Albert Lea. She loved playing bridge, gambling, golf, and gardening.

Survivors include her children, Suzanne Olson of Phoenix, Ariz., Bill (Angie) Olson of Albert Lea, and David (Cristi) Olson of Hershey, Pa.; grandchildren, Brooke Olson (Jimmy Blair), Alex Scherber, and Michael Olson; sister, Mary Shafenberg of Albert Lea; and &8220;Patches.&8221;

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill.
