Kathryn Marie Sakal, 58, of Albert Lea died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at her home.

Funeral services for Kathryn will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea. Rev. Lora Strum will officiate. Interment will be at the Rice Lake Cemetery near Delavan, followed by fellowship at Hope United Methodist Church (Salem), Blue Earth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.

Kathryn Marie Sakal was born on Oct. 8, 1948 to Donald and June (Fumal) Scheid in Winnebago. She attended and graduated from Delavan schools and went on to Wes Mar College in LaMars, Iowa. She married John Sakal. Her daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1983. Katy later went back to school and became an LPN. She was employed at the Baptist Home in Winnebago. For the past 10 years Katy has lived in the Albert Lea area. She enjoyed spending time fishing, needlework and scrapbooking. Katy loved being a grandma and spending time on the family farm.

Survivors include her parents Donald and June Scheid; daughter Jennifer (Matthew) Rauscher of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren Jacob and Alyssa; brother Steve (Mavis) Scheid of Delavan; sisters Gwen Mielke of Sartell; and Merre Kivlin of Minneapolis; nieces Megan and husband Aron Goshorn and KayLynn Scheid; nephews Chris and wife Gwen Uecker, Nick Uecker and Nathan Scheid.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her grandparents.
