Marjorie Blom, 85, Bricelyn

Marjorie N. Blom, age 85, of Bricelyn, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Albert Lea. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church, Brush Creek Township, Faribault County. Visitation will be today from 3 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
The Revs. Edward Nieman and Pat Hinkie will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Marjorie Naomi Blom was born Aug. 22, 1922, the daughter of Nels and Mabel (Olson) Monson. She grew up on a farm near Brush Creek and was confirmed at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church.
Marjorie attended school in Frost and graduated from Frost High School. She attended Mankato Teachers College and taught at School District No. 82 in rural Bricelyn for two years, Kiester elementary school for two years and for five years in Frost. She was a lifelong member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was active in all church activities, she was a member of the WELCA, the Birthday Club, and enjoyed bird watching and time spent with her family and friends.
She married Bertrand Blom on July 8, 1951. He survives her as well as their three sons: Paul (Marsha) Blom and Morris Blom of Bricelyn; and Bryan (Tammy) Blom of Byron; five grandchildren Melanie (Victor) Ferris of Minneapolis, Mark Blom of Bricelyn, Megan (Nathan) Eitzmann of Hardy, Neb.; and Andrea and Kristin Blom of Byron. Also one brother: Gene Monson of Portland, Ore.; a sister-in-law: Sylvia Wulff of Albert Lea; and two nephews: David and Roger (Lynette) Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister- and brother-in-law Ila and Ivan Brooks, and a sister-in-law Cassandra Blom.
Memorials preferred to North Blue Earth Lutheran Church or Bricelyn Rescue Squad.
