Mark Eugene was born on March 20, 1958, in Albert Lea the son of Herschel and Ruth (Hillman) Stevens. He was a 1976 graduate of Albert Lea High School. He attended Albert Lea Technical College/Riverland to get his certification as an auto technician. He worked at Ken&8217;s Service in Albert Lea for several years. Mark married Kimberly Qualey on Oct. 27, 1979, in Albert Lea. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Moose Club. Mark had coached Little League Baseball.
He enjoyed fishing, stock car racing with son Luke and go-carting with grandson Isaiah. He believed life was about spending time with family and so enjoyed being together, playing cards, games, and will be remembered for his occasional prank (or two).
He will be lovingly missed by his wife Kim; three children: Erica (Chad) Samp of Albert Lea, Lorelei Apland and her son Isaiah of Albert Lea, Luke Stevens of Mankato; brothers: Daryl (Claran) Stevens of Albert Lea, Craig (Sandy) Stevens of Albert Lea, sisters: Carol (Aaron) Kuennen of Albert Lea, and Linda Cook of Albert Lea; mother-in-law, Lorraine Qualey of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law Marlene (Dave) Wronski of Vadnais Heights and Dawn (Greg) Dahl of Eagan; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jessica.
Mark will be fondly remembered as one who always put others&8217; needs above his own. He was a courageous &8220;fighter&8221; and had the will to overcome many obstacles so he could be there for his family.
