Roundup: G-E falls, VanRyswyk gets kill record

KENYON &8212; The Glenville-Emmons volleyball team saw its season come to an end Thursday with a three-game loss to Kenyon-Wanamingo in Section 1A action.

Playing without a couple of starters, the Wolverines lost 14-25, 20-25, 5-25.

While G-E lost the match it did make a little history as Jordyn VanRyswyk collected 11 kills giving her 503 in her career. She is the first G-E player to reach the 500 kill mark in her career.

The Wolverines played with K-W up to point 14 in game one before falling behind.

Molly Kral served seven straight points in game two to put her team up 20-18, but those were the final points G-E would score in the game. K-W would jump out to a 10-1 lead in game three and never look back.

VanRyswyk added five blocks in the match and Kral had 13 assists.

G-E finished with a 12-13 record this season.

Belle Plaine 3, USC 0

BELLE PLAINE &8212; The United South Central volleyball team struggled in it&8217;s Section 2AA game against Belle Plaine Thursday falling in three games 5-25, 20-25, 7-25.

The Rebels served at a 94 percent clip but had just eight kills in the three matches.

Sabrina Bushlack led the Rebels with four kills while Lindsey Dahl added two. Ciara Christenson had nine assists.

The Rebels finished the year at 15-9-2 overall.

Mont.-Lons. 3, NRHEG 0

MONTGOMERY &8212; The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva volleyball team made some errors early on and could not overcome the miscues or its frustration in a three-game loss to Montgomery-Lonsdale.

The Panthers lost the Section 2AA match 22-25, 8-25, 9-25.

Cailin Timm led the Panthers with four kills.

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva finished the year with a 11-12-2 record.
