Barbara Meillier, 76, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Barbara J. Meillier, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Meillier died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 76 years of age.

Barbara was born on Nov. 6, 1931, in Faribault, the daughter of Louis and Violet (Nordmeyer) St. Marten. She attended Catholic school in Faribault.

On Jan. 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ray J. Meillier at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. In 1954, they moved to Albert Lea where she has resided ever since. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea and had been employed by the Albert Lea Tribune. For a time she operated her own ceramic shop, and for over 20 years had been a waitress at the VFW and American Legion Club in Albert Lea.

Barbara enjoyed floral arranging, cake decorating, entertaining and spending time with her family and her pets. She always was eager to help other people or just to spend time talking with friends.

Barbara is survived by her children: Paula and her husband, James Davenport of Albuquerque, N.M., Mark Meillier of Rochester, Terry and his wife, Jennifer Meillier of Coon Rapids, James Meillier and his special friend, Becca King of Clarks Grove, Tim and his wife, Kim Meillier of Rochester. There are eight grandchildren: Jill (Neil) Adams, Jeremy (Julianne) Davenport, Christopher Davenport, Joshua Herplink, Ben Meillier, Samantha Meillier, Laura Meillier and Mattison Meillier. There are two great-grandchildren: Caiden Adams and Autumn Herplink. Also surviving are one brother, Louis (Fritz) St. Marten of Faribault; and one sister, Pam Hendricks of Thief River Falls.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; son, Thomas; and sisters, Joan Sobrek and Bubs Fretenberg.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are preferred.
