Charley Paulsen, 95, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Charley Henry Paulsen, 95, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Glenville. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagmeister will officiate. Charley died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Charley Henry Paulsen was born on Oct. 26, 1912, to Andrew and Mary (Rasmussen) Paulsen in

Redwood County near Gilfillan. Charley&8217;s mom died when he was 2 years old. He lived with various sisters and at 15 was sent to live and work for eight years as a hired man on the Thompson farm near Hayward. He was confirmed at Hayward Lutheran Church and sang in their choir. He played ball with the Hayward team. On Oct. 5, 1937, he was united in marriage to Muriel Wolff at the Glenville First Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Hayward, Clarks Grove and Glenville before moving to their farm east of Myrtle. He enjoyed raising beef cattle. Charley retired after 20 years of working at the Weyerhaeuser Factory. Chuck and Muriel loved to travel, first with Muriel&8217;s parents, then their children, and later, with the senior citizens. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Charley and Muriel were baseball fans, especially the Twins. He had a good sense of humor. He was the last of a very large family. Charley was proud to be a full-blooded Dane.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (David) Harris of Hartland; son, Bruce (Norma) Paulsen of Glenville; grandchildren, Dawn (John) Malakowsky, Ryan (Danielle) Paulsen, Mallory Paulsen, Coleen Harris and Matthew (Lisa) Harris; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Adison, Hanah and Gaven; brother-in-law, LuVerne Wolff of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law, Vernetta Paulsen of New Richland, Beatrice (Helmer) Moe, and Audrey Mehus, both of Glenville; and many nieces and nephews.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Muriel; and many brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Charley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
