David Eugene Deyo, 62, of Austin, died early Monday morning, Oct. 29, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. He was born May 23, 1945, to Dale and Viola (Gorman) Deyo in Austin where he grew up and received his education. A very hard worker, David was employed for several years on construction, building bridges and at Mitch Buxton&8217;s Concessions. He was injured while working on the railroad. He liked to fish and won many tournaments playing pool and poker. David enjoyed watching football with his friends and telling a joke. He was a free spirit.
Survivors include his children, Troy (Davina) Utzig of Rockford, Ill.; Tracey (Tanya) Utzig of Beloit, Wis.; Dustan Farmer of Austin; nine grandchildren, Chandra, Victoria, James, Brandon, Christopher, Kimberly, Alexander, Divianna and Tabitha; three sisters, Sharon Weiss of Glenville; Darlene James of Janesville, Wis.; Pamela (Dan) Grace of Norfolk, Neb.; lifetime friends, Joel Anderson, Mitchell Buxton, Bucky Buxton and Jerry Johnson who visited him every day. He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Dale Deyo; brothers-in-law, Wayne Weiss and Rod James; special friend, Diane Hanson.
A special thank you to Good Samaritan Center and Hospice for their kindness and care shown to David.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Kent Otterman officiating. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service.
