Andrew Dyrdal, a 2006 graduate of Albert Lea High School, is a member of the Luther College men&8217;s basketball team.
Second-year head coach Mark Franzen will lead a young Norse squad comprised of four seniors, four juniors, two sophomores and five freshman listed on the varsity roster.
Two games into the season, the Norse are 1-1 and will resume play Friday and Saturday at the Snyder Classic hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Neb.
Dyrdal, a two-sport letterwinner for the Tigers, is the son of Tom and Mallinda Dyrdal of Albert Lea.
Luther College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and is located in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse compete in 10 men&8217;s and nine women&8217;s intercollegiate sports.
As a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) since 1922, the men have won 141 conference championships. In 1982 the IIAC expanded its championship sponsorship to include women&8217;s sports.
During this time span, the women have won 55 team titles. Combined, the Norse have captured an unmatched 196 IIAC titles.
