Freda Rebelein, 102, Kiester

Freda Rebelein, 102, of Kiester, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at the Lake Mills Health Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Dick Steffen will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester. Bruss – Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of the arrangements.
Freda was born Nov.16, 1905, in Kiester Township, Faribault County, the daughter of Conrad and Barbara (Wittman) Rebelein. She attended rural schools. She moved into Kiester in 1930. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Kiester Co-op Elevator and Kiester Implement and for Dr. Snyder in the Kiester Medical Clinic. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed most of her own clothes. She enjoyed making crafts. She loved playing cards (500 and Whist) and belonged to several card clubs until she lost her eyesight. She did some traveling all over the United States. She loved baseball and attended several Twins games. She resided at The Shepherd&8217;s Inn in Wells for several years and moved to Lake Mills in June.
She is survived by one nephew, Marvin and his wife Elaine Rebelein of Kiester, several grand nieces; and one grand nephew.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister Lily; two brothers Conrad and Bernard Rebelein; one niece Elizabeth Rebelein; and one grand niece Denise McGovern.
