George Haroldson, 83, Kiester

George &8220;Brownie&8221; Haroldson, 83, of Kiester, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Parkveiw Care Center in Wells. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Pastor Dick Steffen will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior&8217;s Cemetery with military honors by the Kiester American Legion Post.

George &8220;Brownie&8221; Haroldson was born on Dec. 20, 1923, in Amboy the son of Harold and Hilda (Velta) Haroldson. He was confirmed at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church and graduated from Amboy High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was a veteran. He worked construction in the Winnebago area before moving to Kiester in 1957, where he worked as a plumber. He opened his own business, Brownies Plumbing and Heating in 1975. He was a member of Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran church, served on the Immanuel Lutheran Church Board, was a founding member of the Kiester Rescue Squad, a member of the Kiester Lions Club, and the American Legion Post #454 in Kiester. Brownie enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching, bowling, watching baseball games, his cat, &8220;Fred,&8221; and especially time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Delores; two sons: Richard (Joanne) Haroldson and Brian (Chris) Haroldson of Kiester; grandchildren: Jacie of Northfield; Katie of Kiester; Adam of Duluth; and Jordan of Kiester; three sisters: Florence Godfrey of Wells; Grace Ovrebo of Bricelyn; and Betty (Loren) Caldwell of Silverton, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Pamela; six brothers and one sister.
