Jerome Simon, 85, Ellendale

Jerome Simon of rural Ellendale died Nov. 21, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. A Mass of Christian burial is set for Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl, Somerset Township, rural Steele County. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military rites by Steele County Funeral Detail. Friends may greet the family on Sunday at Brick-Meger Funeral Home,1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, from 3 to 8 p.m. A parish Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The visitation will continue for one hour before the funeral at the church.

Jerome was born Oct. 4, 1922, to son of Sidney and Mary (Schiller) Simon in rural Steele County. Jerome was united in marriage to Romayne Meixner on April 5, 1945, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. Jerome served our country in the Navy during W.W. II from Feb. of 1945 until April 1946. The couple made their home in rural Steele County farming and raising dairy cattle. Jerome continued to farm on that farm until his retirement. Jerome was a member of St. Aidan&8217;s Church in Ellendale, V.F.W. and American Legion and the Owatonna Eagles. Jerome was very active in community events having served on the Hope Creamery Board and Summit Township Board for many years. His life interests include &8220;going out on the road,&8221; hunting, fishing, playing pool, fast pitch softball, playing cards and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Jerome is survived by his daughter Jane Simon of Albert Lea; son Timothy (Shelly) Simon of Ellendale; daughter-in-law Pat King of Kilkenny; grandchildren Kristine (David) Freitas of Chicago, Ill., Kelly Simon and friend Eric Anderson of Port. St. Lucie, Fla., Eric Simon of Eagan and Tara Simon and Tristan Simon of Ellendale; sisters Roselyn (Jerry) Rysavy, Mary Starman and Janet (David) Miller brother Edward (Eilyne) Simon, all of Owatonna; sisters-in-law Alice Simon, Betty Hrdlichka, Eleanore Simon, and Gerry Meixner; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerome is preceded in death by his wife Romayne in 1998, son Daniel in

1980 and one brother, George.

Memorials are preferred to the donor&8217;s choice.
