Arlo Flo, 88, of Bricelyn, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Rev. Patricia Hinkie and Rev. Ed Nieman will officiate. Burial will be in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.

Arlo Lorenzo Flo was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Lake Mills, Iowa, the son of Joe and Madeline (Anderson) Flo. In 1939 Arlo met the neighbor girl Hilma Gladys Knutson and on Dec. 9, 1939, they were married at the Bricelyn Lutheran parsonage by Rev. Jurgenson. They moved to their farm north of Bricelyn in 1942 where Arlo resided until he entered Parkview Care Center in September of 2007. Arlo loved the farm and after his retirement in 1985 he enjoyed gardening, traveling, mowing, visiting, reading, watching and feeding the birds. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by four children: Hilare (Jerry) Klose of St. Cloud, Linda Umberger of Denver, Colo., Sylvia (Terry) Halverson of Kiester, and Arwin Flo (special friend Hazel Peterson) of Bricelyn. Nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Philippe) Abbey of Castaic, Calif.; Jeff (Kari) Hamele of Sydney, Australia; Jill (Jeff) Ault of Fort Mill, S.C.; Clark (Debbie) Mikkelson of Willard, Mo.; Bill Mikkelson of St. Louis, Mo.; Ann (Rocky) Kerns of Stewartsville, Mo.; Melissa (Terry) Hintz of Shakopee; David (Julie) Halverson of State Center, Iowa; and Tina (Cory) Palmer of Litchfield. 18 great-grandchildren: Broden, DyLynn, and Becken Abbey, Evan and Elaine Hamele, Kaleigh Ault, Megan and Lane Mikkelson, Charity and River Page, Emma Kerns, Preston and Ethan Hintz, Hailee, Joseph and Payton Halverson, and Kaitlyn and Kelsey Palmer. Arlo is also survived by his brother: Dale (Barb) Flo of Le Sueur; sisters: Glorian Kennedy of Northwood, Iowa; Lorna Anderson and Joanne (Harry) Green of Albert Lea; Donna Arneson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and sister-in-law Mavis Flo of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Hilma in October of 2003, three brothers: Lester, Ronald and Marlin Flo; son-in-law Donald Umberger, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
