Eighth-ranked Granada handles A-C with ease, 53-26

ALDEN &8212; Eighth-ranked Granada-Huntley-East Chain was anything but gracious guests as Alden-Conger opened up its home season falling 87-55.

GHEC dominated from the opening tip and never let up building a 53-26 halftime lead.

&8220;I knew they were good coming in, but they are even better than I thought,&8221; A-C head coach Bill Hintz said. &8220;They are so fundamentally sound.&8221;

Paul Little led the Knights with 17 points, Sam Hallman added 12 and Jon Beck had nine.

The Knights did not help themselves with 22 turnovers in the game.

&8220;We just need to settle down because we are playing out of control right now,&8221; Hintz said. &8220;We can&8217;t keep hurting ourselves like that if we want to win.&8221;

The Knights (2-0) are back in action Tuesday when they face Truman.

MCW 45, USC 41

WELLS &8212; The United South Central boys&8217; basketball team lost to Martin County West 45-41 Tuesday.

Andrew Penning led the way with 14 points, Brian Hauge added nine and Tim Eilertson had six.

The Rebels trailed by four at halftime, but could not overcome the deficit in the second half.

The Rebels (0-3) host Medford tonight with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
