A low-pressure system moved through the area Thursday, which brought around 1 1/2 inches of snow to Albert Lea. The storm gave &8220;at least a dusting&8221; to the rest of the state, said National Weather Service Meteorologist Karen Trammell.

A fatal rollover accident was reported in Faribault County on Interstate 90, near milepost 117. As of press time, the specifics of the incident had not yet been released by the Minnesota State Patrol.

The storm dumped a lot more white stuff to the south, with many school delays in Iowa. The Des Moines area received 5 inches of snow.

It was the warm air ahead of the low-pressure system that caused snow to develop across Nebraska, Iowa and &8220;it did sneak into southern Minnesota as well,&8221; she said.

Ellendale reported an inch of snow at 5 p.m. The heaviest snow was in the southern most part of the state. The Twin Cities reported less than 1 inch.

&8220;Most of the state saw at least a few snowflakes,&8221; she said.

Trammell said Freeborn County was on the northern edge of the main precipitation shield.

There was no ice associated with the snow and there wasn&8217;t much wind to cause blowing or drifting. The snow Thursday simply added a fresh coat of the fluffy white stuff to the scenery.

According to the Albert Lea Police Department and the Freeborn County Sheriff&8217;s Office, nine vehicle accidents were reported during the snowfall from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. No one was injured in any of the incidents.

Meteorologist Jessica McLaughlin of KIMT 3 said snow stopped around 10 or 11 p.m.
