George Ulmen, 84, Albert Lea

The memorial service for George Richard Ulmen of Albert Lea will be at 6 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation with his family will be one hour before the service.
George died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 84 years old. He went ahead of his beloved sweetheart Marjorie Jensen.
George was born June 12, 1923, in Albert Lea to Clem J. and Grace (Hanna) Ulmen. George graduated from Albert Lea High School and continued his education at
the College of St. Thomas.
George has resided in Albert Lea, Owatonna, Austin, Dallas, Texas, and Arlington, Texas. George served in the United States Navy. He entered the service in February 1943 and was discharged in March 1946 with the rank of QM 3/C.
He worked for George A. Hormel Inc from1950 through 1968 for 18 years as foreman and Continental Trailways from 1969 through 1987 for 18 years as tour manager. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
George also enjoyed cooking, especially making bread and ginger snaps. He enjoyed traveling and taking pictures.
He was a very compassionate
person and a very good father and grandpa.
George is survived by his children: Rebecca Carter of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tim Ulmen of Ft. Smith, Ark., Stephanie Hatch of St. Peters, Mo., Christine Wade of Plano, Texas, Todd Ulmen of Dallas, Texas, Mike and Andrea Jensen of Albert Lea, and Gwen Adams of Lime Springs, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and his beloved sweetheart: Marjorie Jensen of Albert Lea.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
