Tiger wrestling team shakes up lineup, still wins with ease

MANKATO &8212; The seventh-ranked Albert Lea wrestling team put some new wrestlers in its lineup for Thursday&8217;s dual with Mankato East and came out winners 48-21.
Eighth-grader Dalton Westerlund earned a pin over Ricardo Fletcher at 112 pounds in 3:06 and Pat Ignaszewski won a 3-2 decision over Dylan Fast at 171 in their first varsity dual action of the season.
&8220;We were able to get some new kids in there and move others around to see how they would do,&8221; Albert Lea head coach Larry Goodnature said. &8220;Kids like Caleb Gaudian may not have got the win but they got some experience.&8221;
Adam Clark was a 3-0 winner at 125, No. 9 Trevor Rasmussen won by fall in 1:02 at 130 and third-ranked Logan Kortan also won by poin in 59 seconds over Dustin Qualley.
Adam Kermes turned in a quality win over Daniel Davis 6-0, Jon Kluver was a 5-2 winner over Nick Ackerman at 189 and No. 7 Ethan Reed was a winner by fall in 2:43 at 215.
&8220;Adam had a good match, he wrestled well and Jon did good in a matchup of two equal kids,&8221; Goodnature said.
Both Cody and Cory Hansen received forfeits for the Tigers.
The win imporved the Tigers to 8-0 in dual action this season as they prepare to face No. 4 Anoka in Albert Lea Dec. 29.
&8220;We are off to a good start and now we will enjoy the Christmas break,&8221; Goodnature said.
