Verna Drescher, 71, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Verna Alice Drescher, 71, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Verna died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home.
Verna Alice Drescher was born on April 17, 1936, to Henry and Gladys (Osterman) Ruff in Henderson. She grew up in Henderson and attended school there. On Sept. 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to Ellsworth Drescher in Henderson. The couple moved from Conger to Albert Lea in 1963. Verna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was employed at Land O&8217;Lakes, Tom Bells, and also did house cleaning and babysat her grandchildren. She enjoyed canning, cooking, camping, and fishing. Verna especially enjoyed watching her boys in sports and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also liked to listen to Partyline and KATE Radio. Verna joined the family at &8220;Just Like Home&8221; in June of this year. She loved and enjoyed being a part of their family and all that came with living there.
Survivors include her children, Ricky (Linda) Drescher, Michael (Deb) Drescher and Bruce (Dawn) Drescher; grandchildren, Rhonda, Mark, Brandon (Ellie), Amber, Justin and Travis Drescher; brothers, Henry Ruff, Harvey (Sue) Ruff, Carl (Donna) Ruff, Ellsworth (Joanie) Ruff, and Paul (Norma) Ruff; sisters, Evelyn (Bill) Aul, and Selma Ruff; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Fern) Drescher, Herbert (Velma) Drescher, and Roger Drescher; sister-in-law, Marcine Drescher; many cousins, nieces and nephews and her friend Nicky the Kitty.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law; husband, Ellsworth; brothers, George and Walter Ruff; brother-in-law, Norman Drescher; and nephew, Dennis Ruff.
