Woodside named athlete of the month

ELMHURST, Ill. &8212; The Summit League office today announced North Dakota State basketball player Ben Woodside as the league&8217;s Men&8217;s Athlete of the Month for November.
Woodside, a junior guard from Albert Lea, averaged 26.4 points, 5.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals over seven games. He shot 54 percent from the field, 48 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the foul line during the month. His scoring average of 26.4 ranked third nationally and he was also among the nation&8217;s leaders in assists per game, 3-pointers per game and 3-point field-goal percentage.
Woodside posted his first collegiate double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds against Minot State and had back-to-back 30-point games with 39 at Tennessee Tech and 31 at Green Bay. His 39 points at Tennessee Tech ranked 10th best in NDSU single-game history. He made 13-of-14 free throws at Tennessee Tech, one shy of his school record 14-for-14.
Woodside became the 25th player in school history to reach 1,000 points vs. Minot State and currently ranks 17th on NDSU&8217;s career scoring list with 1,152 points. He has started all 64 of his career games.
