Austin swimmers have strong showing winning seven events, down Albert Lea

The Austin boys&8217; swim team started fast and never came up for a breather as it downed Albert Lea 97-80 Thursday in Albert Lea.
The Packers won the first four events and seven in all to record the Big Nine Conference win.
Albert Lea did post a win in the diving competition as Kevin Zogg edged teammate Ben Robinson for the top spot 101.20 to 100.80.
Matt Van Fossen posted the Tigers&8217; other victory on the night winning the 100 butterfly with ease in a time of 57.04. Van Fossen was the winner of the event touching the wall more than five seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.
Albert Lea&8217;s Van Fossen, Chris Dorman, Ethan Marquardt and Jordan Elleby took second in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 1:520.60 putting it five tenths of a second behind the winning team from Austin.
Dorman, Chris Allison, Elleby and Van Fossen finished as the runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.60.
Marquart took fourth in the 200 free in 2:10.31, Christensen took fourth in the 200 individual medley and Allison was fourth in the 100 free.
The Tigers travel to Austin Saturday for an invitational meet beginning at 9:45 a.m.
