Eleanor Verdoorn, 70, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Eleanor Verdoorn, age 70, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. John Bromeland and the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veteran&8217;s Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Eleanor died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home.

Eleanor was born on July 15, 1937, to Eldow and Fern (Woollard) Meyer in Kiester. She graduated from Kiester School. Eleanor married Arie &8220;Gene&8221; Verdoorn on Feb. 18, 1962. Eleanor was a homemaker and owned a restaurant with her husband for a number of years called The Dice Box in Truman. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea.

Eleanor enjoyed time spent with her family, also fishing and cross stitching.

Survivors include her children Jeff (Ann) Verdoorn, Mike (LuAnn) Verdoorn, Greg (Tyra) Verdoorn, Troy (Kelly) Verdoorn and Stacey (Dave) Bahr; three step children, Gary Verdoorn, Rani Verdoorn and Lynn Doser; brother, Edwin (Bernadine) Meyer; sister, Elizabeth (Bruce) Klocek; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Eldow and Fern; husband, Arie &8220;Gene&8221;; and brother, Edward &8220;Bud.&8221;
