Hazel Reyerson, 96, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Hazel K. Reyerson of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake, Iowa.

Hazel passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2008, at her home in Albert Lea. She was 96 years of age.

Hazel was born July 23, 1911, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Henry M. and Karen M. (Bell) Hanson. She attended public school in Albert Lea. On Aug. 29, 1929, she was united in marriage to Seymour B. Reyerson at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Together they lived in Worth County, Iowa, until 1962 when they moved to Albert Lea.

Hazel worked for many years as a cook for the elementary school in Otranto and also at the Land O&8217;Lakes Company.

Hazel was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was active in the church circle.

In her free time, Hazel enjoyed crafts and sewing doll clothing. Her grandchildren called her the Barbie Doll Grandma because of all the clothes she made.

Hazel is survived by her children: Lois Tenold of Albert Lea, Karen and her husband Richard Severson of Manly, Iowa, Harold and his wife Bonnie Reyerson of Alden, Sylvia Bohling of Albert Lea and Anita and her husband Richard Sande of Albert Lea; and daughter-in-law Juda Reyerson of Triangle, Va. There are 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son David; son Larry; infant great-grandson; great-grandson Patrick O&8217;Neil; three sisters; and four brothers.
