The funeral service for Lois Elizabeth Steele of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea. Friends may visit with family one hour before service at the church.

Lois died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea. She was 86 years old.

Lois was born in Carlston Township, Freeborn County, on June 25, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Nora (Peterson) Nelson.

She had been a life time resident of Freeborn County. She graduated from Freeborn High School and attended Nurses Training at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea. Lois was married to Merlin Steele on June 1, 1945, in Alden. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the church circle.

Lois was a YWCA Board member for many years and also a Lois Club member. She enjoyed her bridge club, bowling team, fishing, camping and cooking was her life. However, time spent with her family was her greatest love.

Lois is survived by her husband of 62 years, Merlin of Albert Lea; daughters: Nancy (Terry) Peterson of Albert Lea,

Julie(Terry) Heilman of Northfield; grandchildren: Mike (Deb) Peterson, Nicole (Ron) Mentjes, Michael (Dawn) Heilman, Michelle (Clint) Muench; great grandchildren: Abby and Alex Peterson, Talia and Logan Mentjes, Carson and Garrett Muench; sister: Fern Edwin of Albert Lea.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law: Norman and LeMoyne Steele; sister-in-law Soneta Steele.
