Marvel Jones, 86, Albert Lea

Marvel Jones passed away Jan. 2, 2008, at home with her husband Kenneth and daughter Lavonne at her bedside. She died peacefully after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Marvel M. Robinson was born Nov. 19, 1921, on a farm near New Richland. She was the daughter of Ernest and Marie Robinson. In 1925, the family moved to a farm near Emmetsburg, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school.
In 1950, she moved to Albert Lea. In 1955 she married Kenneth Jones. Marvel worked at Three Sisters, Herberger&8217;s, Wallace&8217;s and Thorne Crest Retirement Community. She also did many years of volunteer work for the Salvation Army and ARC. Marvel&8217;s favorite pastime was spending time with family. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to music and playing the piano. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23.
Ken and Marvel had one daughter, Lavonne Joyce Jones Korn. Marvel had four children from a previous marriage: Jackie Montague Frank, Dr. Melissa Montague Blevins, Dr. Daniel Montague and Patricia Montague Nave, and one stepdaughter, Mona Jones Tusen. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvel is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Anzetta, Violet, Mazie and Beryl; and a brother, Gordon.
The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the people at hospice for their loving care. Marvel will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
