NRHEG goes 2-3 in Owatonna

The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva wrestling team went 2-3 at the Federated Duals over the weekend.
The Panthers picked up wins over Rosemount and St. Paul Humboldt but lost to Adrian, Waseca and Owatonna.
After falling behind 9-0 to Rosemount the Panthers reeled off five straight victories of their own to take a 22-9 lead.
Josh Dalbec started things with a first period pin at 125. Alex Moen was a major decision winner at 130 while both Brandon Espe and Colton Schlaak won by decision. Tenth-ranked Tim Bartness completed the run with a pin in 1:28 at 145.
The Panthers would also get wins from No. 5 Gaven Schlaak at 160 with a pin and David Lindell at 189 to cement the victory 30-28 despite losing one team point for unsportsman like conduct and having Rosemount win the final two weights.
NRHEG received three forfeits from St. Paul and got pins from Dalbec, Bartness, Gaven Schlaak, Nash Peteranek and Aaron Haggerty to win the dual with ease 67-9.
The Panthers lost to Waseca 43-24.
Class AA No. 10 Adrian began its dual with the Panthers with a pair of pins and won nine matches to win 41-21.
NRHEG got a major decision from Josh Schroeder at 119, another major by Bartness and a pin from Gaven Schlaak.
Fifth-ranked Owatonna dominated the Panthers winning 47-15.
Bartness finished the day a perfect 5-0 by winning a 9-7 decision at 145, Ethan Hagen earned a pin at 189 and Erick Olson had a pin at heayweight.
