Dorothy J. Benson, 67, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E.

Dorothy Joanne (Troe) Benson was born on Jan. 20, 1941, in Albert Lea, to parents Nels Burnell and Stella Mildred (Erickson) Troe. She attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Lake Mills High School.

Dorothy was united in marriage with Craig Benson on Aug. 2, 1975, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. She lived in Lake Mills her entire life, working at Deluxe Products until 1980.

Family was very important to Dorothy, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, flower gardening, making crafts, and she collected bells, spoons, and plates. Most of all, Dorothy was a wonderful cook who truly appreciated making the most complicated of recipes, as well as an occasional pan of rice krispie bars.

Survivors include her husband, Craig Benson of Lake Mills, Iowa; daughter, Diane (Bruce) Schulze of Clear Lake, Iowa; son Chad (Quincey) Benson of Forest City, Iowa; grandchildren, Steven (Cassie) Schulze of Forest City, Iowa, Ryan (fianc/e Kalyn Gullic) Schulze of Mason City, Iowa, Madyson Benson, and Carter Benson, both of Forest City, Iowa; a great-grandson, Trenton Schulze of Mason City, Iowa; a sister, Donna (Larry) Bidne of Emmons; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Donovan Burnell Hermanson.
