Editorial: High turnout was nice to see

Wow! Local and statewide attendence for caucuses in both parties were way above the norm.
Why? Perhaps that&8217;s what happens when there is no incumbent president or vice president in the race. Perhaps that&8217;s what happens when people are greatly dissatisfied.
The Associated Press reported that 163,000 Democrats turned out for caucuses in Minnesota on Tuesday night &8212; three times more than 2004. The AP said 40,000 Republicans turned up, also more than usual.
Local Republicans and Democrats were pleased with the large-than-usual turnouts.
It&8217;s nice to see less apathy and greater interest in politics. The issues matter and every voter indeed can make a difference in this country.
Thanks for going to the caucuses, Minnesota.
