Esther Anderson, 96, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Esther Marie Anderson of Albert Lea will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor&8217;s choice.
Esther died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
She was 96 years old.
Esther was born May 7, 1911, at Pipestone to Walter and Andrea (Hines) Hansen. She was a lifetime Albert Lea area resident. She attended Clarks Grove elementary school. Esther married Earl Anderson on June 26, 1931. Esther was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had belonged to the Trinity Lutheran Church Women. She was a farm wife. She also worked for J.C. Penney as a alteration specialist for 14 years. She belonged to the Senior Citizen Center where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo for 12 years. Esther also had been a 4-H leader, member of Rebecca Lodge and Sunset Saddle Club. She enjoyed snowmobiling, and old time dancing. Her family was very important to her.
Esther is survived by two daughters: Erliss Grass and her husband Jim of Owatonna and Yvonne Wright of Owatonna; grandchildren: Cindy Martin and her husband LaVerne of Albert Lea, Buz Grass and his wife Cea of Owatonna, Julie Grass of Waltham, Pete Grass of Owatonna, Blane Wright and his wife Linda of Dalhart, Texas and Michele Warner and her husband Brian of Owatonna; great-grandchildren: Jake, Chan, Christian, Mandi and Anne; great-great-grandchildren: Carter, Tyler, Ava and Andrew; and nieces and nephews.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Andrea; husband,
Earl, in 1988; infant daughter, Sharon; great-granddaughter, Lacey; sister, Eba Ericksen; and brothers, Henry and William Hansen.
