Memorial services for Loren D. Murray, 78, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by Freeborn County veterans organizations. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, at Zion Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service.
Loren passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Loren D. Murray was born on Oct. 3, 1929, near Odessa, to Ruthven and Lora (Strei) Murray. He graduated from Bellingham High School. Loren married Arlene Vomhof on June 6, 1954, in Winsted. He was employed for many years at the Albert Lea Tribune. Loren was known and loved by many as a devoted husband, a loving father and an adoring grandfather. He will be missed by many for his gentle smile and warm heart.
Survivors include his wife Arlene, who shared his life for 54 years; his sons, Paul Murray of Austin, Dave (Linda) Murray of North Mankato and Tom (Denise) Murray of Grand Marais; and his daughter Ann (Tim) Colstrup of Ellendale. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Andrea, Lisa, Ashley, Kevin, Lauren, Alex, Soren, Erik, Douglas, Daniel, Dennis, Darcie, Nathan and Emily and his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hannah, Jadyn, Ava, and James. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Lois) Murray of Benson; twin sister, Lorraine Murray of Ontario, Calif.; and sisters, Geneva Hayes of Appleton, and Ione Mortenson of South San Francisco, Calif.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, Ken and Rudy; and sisters, Inez Flager and Millie Lofthus.
