Opening receptions this weekend for new exhibits

The opening reception for the Emily Chesley art exhibit will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Albert Lea Art Center, 224 S. Broadway Ave.
Chesley will present &8220;Moody Food,&8221; paintings and drawings.

The opening reception for the Ellen Saul photography show will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. A resident of Albert Lea for 30 years, Saul has a passion for the many faces of nature. Nothing will get her out of bed quicker in the morning than the promise of a beautiful sunrise. From the sunset on the far horizon to the dewdrops on a leaf, she brings her camera to bear, sharing her perspective and her love of light and shadow.
The exhibits will be up for the month of February.
Regular gallery hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A.L. marching band to hold fundraiser
The Albert Lea marching band will hold a fundraiser at The Pizza Ranch, 2430 Bridge Ave., from 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Feb. 4 and Feb. 25. A percentage of sales will be given to the band.
People are urged to bring their appetites and support the marching band.
Habitat annual meeting Monday
The annual meeting of Habitat for Humanity, Freeborn/Mower will be held at Bethelehem Free Methodist Church in Austin on Monday at 7 p.m. Anyone contributing to our volunteering for the organization is considered as a member. The public is invited.
Honored guest will be the first Austin recipient family. Bonnie Reitz is the keynote speaker. The church address is 1500 4th Ave. S.E.
