Several southern Minnesota counties have joined forces to hold a workshop for feedlot operators from Dodge, Freeborn, Mower, Rice and Steele counties.
The workshop, &8220;Facts About NPDES and EAW Requirements,&8221; will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at Blooming Prairie City Hall, 138 Highway Ave. South. Feedlot operators may choose whichever workshop is most convenient for them.
Speakers from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will discuss the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES), including multiple sites, ownership, parcels and permits. The workshop will also cover Environmental Assessment Worksheets, including criteria determinations, process and review, watersheds and emissions. Both workshops will include time for questions and answers.
&8220;Operating a feedlot today is a complicated matter because of the rules and regulations involved. These workshops are an easy way to get the necessary information and build a working relationship with local feedlot officers,&8221; said Colin Wittmer, feedlot officer for Freeborn County.
Space is limited so feedlot operators are encouraged to make reservations. Call Wittmer at 377-5186.
