Blanche Monson, 91, Emmons

Blanche E. Monson, 91, of Emmons, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Emmons Lutheran Church with the Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Emmons. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Emmons Lutheran Church, 490 Pearl St. in Emmons and one hour prior to services Saturday.

Blanche E. (Brua) Monson was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Silver Lake Township, Worth County, Iowa, to parents Lewis and Alma (Troe) Brua. She was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa.

On June 7, 1935, Blanche was united in marriage with George M. Monson in Northwood, Iowa.

Blanche is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rose Monson of Emmons; children, Iona (Rodney &8220;Buzz&8221;) Boelter of Albert Lea, Gloria (Dan) Bolhuis of Glenville, Derald (Judy) Monson of Brooklyn Park, Gale (Phyllis) Monson of Lake Mills, Iowa, Wally Monson of Emmons, and Bonnie (Pat) Maher of Northwood, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Leona Johnson of Osseo, Wis.; brother, Donald (Donna) Brua of Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Lillian Sandberg of Lignite, N.D.; brother-in-law, Earl (Twilla) Monson of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; two sons, Ardien and Duane; a granddaughter, Kelly Maher; one great-grandson, Charlie Cooper; and sister, Doris.
