Cora Lancaster, 69, Albert Lea

Cora Ann Lancaster, 69, of Albert Lea, formerly of Bismarck, N.D., died at her sons home in Albert Lea, on Saturday, March 8, surrounding by her loving family and the special care of Crossroads Community Hospice.

A remembrance gathering for Cora will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck.

was born on March 6, 1939, in Goodrich, N.D., the daughter of Albert and Hazel (Papke) Mindt.

Cora graduated from Goodrich High School and then moved to Bismarck, N.D. She worked for the North Dakota State Highway Department until she was united in marriage to Martin Lancaster on July 15, 1961.

While Martin was in the U.S. Air Force they lived in Minot, N.D., returning to Bismarck in 1965, where they raised their children and Cora lovingly helped care for sister DiAnn&8217;s children as well.

Cora returned to work for the State Highway Department once Todd, Toni and Troy where in school. In 1983 they moved to Barnsville for a short time, and shortly thereafter they were transferred to Albert Lea, where she has resided since. Cora had worked for Slifka Sales, retiring in 2006.

After moving to Albert Lea, Cora became passionate about her involvement in the Eagle&8217;s Auxiliary. She was a past president and she made &8220;Make A Wish&8221; and cancer drives, pet projects of hers. She so enjoyed being with people and she often spoke of her &8220;Eagles&8221; friends as family. Cora held her family close, and her grandchildren were precious gifts to her.

She will be greatly missed by her mother Hazel Mindt of Bismarck, N.D.; her children: Todd Lancaster and Marilynn Borland of Albert Lea, Toni and her husband Barry Mathwig of Savage, Troy Lancaster and his wife Clarice of Forsythe, Ill.; her grandchildren: Taylor and Mitchell Lancaster of Forsythe, Ill., Jacob and Andrew Borland and Brook Lopez of Albert Lea, Dillon Mathwig of Austin, Texas, great granddaughter Gracelynn Lopez of Albert Lea, her sister DiAnn and her husband Dale Lien of Bismarck, N.D., her special niece and nephew: Tootie Hatzenbueler and Dion Ehlis, her special friend Donnie Sickels of Albert Lea, and her pet companions Zada and Gi.

Cora was preceded in death by her father Albert and her husband Martin in 1990.
