Darryl Lee, 73, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Darryl R. (Nig) Lee of Albert Lea will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Area veterans organizations.
Mr. Lee died Sunday morning at St John&8217;s Lutheran Home. He was 73 years old.
Darryl was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Albert Lea, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Hoyne) Lee. He was a 1952 graduate of Albert Lea High School. In 1953, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the U.S. and Japan.
Darryl was united in marriage to Isabel (Isy) Beck on Oct. 12, 1958, at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
Darryl had been employed for over 44 years with the Morlea &045; Kemps Dairy in sales, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion and the Oak Grove Gun Club. Darryl loved hunting, fishing, and woodworking. One of his most favorite hobbies was trap shooting, where he won the Minnesota State Trap Shoot in 1977.
Darryl is survived by his wife Isy of Albert Lea; mother Dorothy (Lee) Holmquist of Albert Lea; sisters, Nancy (Roger) Espe of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Carole Berg of Paynesville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Beck of Albert Lea; step brother, Bryan (Betty) Holmquist of Oakland; step sister, Dianne (Richard) Krogh of Inver Grove Heights; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darryl was preceded in death by his father in 1982; brothers-in-law Carl Beck and Edwin Beck; and sisters-in-law, Marie (Clarence) Helland, Frieda (Arnold) Sorenson and Irene (Carl) Johnson.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Peace and Power at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
