Kenneth Benesh, 79, Myrtle

Funeral services for Kenneth L. Benesh, 79, of Myrtle, will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Hayward Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Malm will officiate. Burial will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen&8217;s organizations. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Kenneth died on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home.

Kenneth L. Benesh was born on Sept. 16, 1928, in Austin, the son of Louis and Mabel (Saman) Benesh. He attended and graduated from Austin High School. He furthered his education at St. Olaf College and North Dakota State. Kenneth proudly served his country in the US Army. After his discharge he returned to Freeborn County where he was united in marriage to Doris Larson on June 23, 1957, in Hayward. Kenneth farmed all of his life in the Myrtle area and he and Doris owned and operated Ken&8217;s Place in Myrtle. He enjoyed raising cattle and going to cattle shows. Kenneth was known for supporting the youth in raising and showing cattle. He also enjoyed fishing. Kenneth was a member of Trondhjem Lutheran Church.

Kenneth is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law Daryl and wife Pat Larson, Erwin and wife Ruth Larson and Lucille and husband Bill Stephenson; one cousin, Roger Saman; and numerous Benesh cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Doris.

Kenneth was a devoted friend to many people who will also remember him.
