Marianne Sahli, 76, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marianne C. Sahli, 76, of Albert Lea, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Todd Walsh and Rev. Lyndy West will officiate. Burial will be private. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the church.
Marianne died on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Marianne C. Sahli was born on June 25, 1931, the daughter of Elmer and Mae (Grassman) Carey in Watertown, S.D. She attended and graduated from high school in Watertown. She furthered her education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.
On April 28, 1950, Marianne was united in marriage to Bernard Sahli in Webster, S.D. The couple lived in Watertown while raising their children and then in 1967 moved to Albert Lea. Marianne worked in the physical therapy unit and Naeve Hospital and then at HealthReach until her retirement. She enjoyed attending ACT, volunteering at the hospital, playing bridge and music of all types. Marianne was a member of Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church and then Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children: son, Greg and wife Lydia Sahli, of Chicago, Ill., and grandson Brian, daughter, Carey Schmidt of Albert Lea and grandsons Don and Steve, daughter Patricia and husband Dr. William Waugh of Bellevue, Wash., and granddaughter Megan and grandson Aaron and daughter Jean Sahli, Mason City, Iowa; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and wife Jeanette Carey and Kenneth and wife Mary Carey; brother-in-law, Donald Schmechel and Bernard&8217;s brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; and Marianne&8217;s special companion and friend, Petey her dog.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard; daughter, Leigh Sahli; sister, Marguerite Schmechel; and daughter-in-law, Ida Sahli.
